Drug & Alcohol Assessment

These assessments are used to identify the possible presence and severity of a substance use disorder. An important part of the assessment process is integrating information from psychological testing, the clinical interview, and collateral information to make an informed treatment recommendation. It’s important to note that the way in which information is gathered can dramatically influence a person’s willingness to talk openly about their substance use. Because of this, the interviewer’s skill is arguably more important than any particular measure that is given during an evaluation. Drs. Casey and Christopher specialize in the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders, and they are adept at engaging patients in conversations that increase honesty and motivation for change. That, of course, is the ultimate goal - to help those who need treatment feel empowered to seek it.
